Quarantunes: Turntable Time

Another album absconded from my parents' collection of rock, roll and discovery, this was the perfect introduction to the Rolling Stones for me as their first compilation album with their earliest signature smash hit "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," and other notable early hits like "As Tears Go By," "19th Nervous Breakdown" and "Get Off Of My Cloud." The Stones also make cover songs their own with entries like "Time Is On My Side," "It's All Over Now," and "Play With Fire" with their early bluesy, echoey sound that made me simply awestruck whether I played this record on a portable record player with primitive plastic speakers or a later hand-me-down upgrade with a Realistic receiver and Garrard turntable. (Notable oddity on this album is the Jagger-Richards songwriting credit misspelled with "Richard" on the sleeve and record listings).
